Edinson Cavani Manchester United’s Pay Scale Analysed

Edinson Cavani Manchester United's Pay

Edinson Cavani is set to become one of Manchester United’s highest-paid players once his shock move to Old Trafford is completed – expectedly today.

It’s understood the Uruguayan striker will be paid £200,000-a-week or £10.4million-a-year.

With Ed Woodward set to give the 33-year-old a two-year deal, the risky transfer will set the Red Devils back a total of £20.8m in wages over the length of the contract.

While the veteran is on mega-money, his pay will still fall short of three of his United team-mates.

David De Gea is the best paid player at the club on a whopping £375,000-a-week.

Paul Pogba, on £290,000, and Anthony Martial, on £250,000, are the other two who will be banking more than Cavani.

The Uruguayan will find himself level with Marcus Rashford’s wages.

The move is a risky one, but sources say the top brass view the deal as like the move that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic become a terrace idol after arriving in the latter stages of his career.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side believe Cavani will be a boost to the development of their young strikers.

He spent seven years with PSG and managed 200 goals in 301 appearances to become their all-time top scorer.

United will be keeping their fingers crossed he can produce a similar return in the Premier League and prove himself worth the money.
